Making reading better with founders of Litcharts and creators of SparkNotes
I like to think our product offering improved 10x in 2021 for helping people read more and more effectively. Course Hero, Inc. now offers readers and teachers everywhere the combination of Course Hero Lit’s study guides, infographics and videos; LitChart’s interactive study guides and teaching resources; and, the iconic CliffsNotes yellow and black summaries.
I’m energized about what we can do to help more people with everything they need for everything they read. The amazing team at LitCharts, led by creators of SparkNotes, Justin Kestler and Ben Florman, are now leading all of our work across LitCharts, Course Hero Lit, and CliffsNotes. With these valuable and popular brands to build upon, plus their creative energy, what will they create and launch with the world next?
I’m excited about their plans for new and interactive reading resources for helping students and teachers on LitCharts, especially with complex texts. I’m bullish on their opportunity to innovate the CliffsNotes product that’s been in the market since 1958 and has over 70% brand awareness. And I’m humbled that they are now the leaders of our Course Hero Literature product line.
I’m personally passionate about creating and sharing amazing literature resources. This is probably an understatement too. At Course Hero, we’ve been crowdsourcing literature resources and creating literature resources for many years before the acquisition of LitCharts and CliffsNotes.
Here is an example summary and analysis video we created at Course Hero and shared on our Course Hero YouTube channel. Our channel now reaches about 300,000 subscribers and has served about 100,000,000 views to date.
We have created and shared thousands of videos and hundreds of infographics so far, including this literature infographic for Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. It’s currently my favorite.
With (a) a creative, passionate and expert team, (b) hundreds of millions of visits per year to LitCharts, CliffsNotes, and Course Hero Lit and (c) one of the largest libraries of literature study aids (nearly 9,000 resources, including video, audio, ebooks, books, and infographics), I’m so excited to see what new and better resources Justin, Ben and our team build and launch for readers everywhere.
